Music

In my time at UR, I've been an active participant in the Music Department. I've been in the University of Rochester Chamber Orchestra for many years as a violist. I've also had occasional stints in the Symphony Orchestra.

I was fortunate enough, under the guidance of Dr. Rachel Waddell and Dr. Mark Powell, to be the Assistant (and Associate) Conductor for the University of Rochester Orchestras. I've conducted (as of Spring, 2024) 5 times in concert:

  • Spring 2021, Symphonic Suite from The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring

    • Howard Shore, arr. John Whitney

  • Spring 2022, “No Time for Caution” from Interstellar

    • Hans Zimmer

  • Spring 2022, The Suite from the Star Wars Epic- Part II

    • John Williams, arr. Robert W. Smith

  • Spring 2023, Andromède

    • Augusta Holmès

  • Fall 2023, Fanfare from La Péri

    • Paul Dukas

  • Spring 2024, Symphony No. 1, Mvmt. 3

    • Gustav Mahler

I've also conducted, in rehearsal,

  • Jupiter from Holst's The Planets

  • Shostakovich's Suite for Variety Orchestra

  • Marquez's Danzon No. 2

  • Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica"

  • Smetana's Overture to The Bartered Bride

  • Mozart's Symphony No. 34

  • Vaughan Williams' Symphony No. 8

I am very new to all of this. But if you are curious in what I've done, send me a note and we can discuss.

I was also Head Librarian for the orchestras for a few years.
